Trusting the Journey
Making a career change or stepping into a new life direction can be exhilarating, but let’s be honest—it can also be exhausting. The excitement of possibility often comes with moments of self-doubt, rejection, and the question: Is this even working?
Embracing New Beginnings
Transitions, especially those involving our careers and personal lives, often come with excitement and uncertainty. Whether stepping into a new role, redefining your career path, or exploring a different life chapter, embracing a new beginning holistically can create a more fulfilling and sustainable change.
Tips for Navigating a Career-Life Transition
Whether you’re making a shift by choice or necessity, there are steps you can take to make the process smoother and more fulfilling. Here are some tips to guide you:
Keep Going
When you make a change from the inside out, the journey becomes much deeper. You begin to discover parts of yourself you may not yet fully understand. In that self-discovery, clarity begins to emerge. But clarity isn’t something you force; it’s something that finds you—when you stay open, stay curious, and keep moving forward.
What Sparks Your Action?
We don’t have to avoid anger to be peaceful or grounded individuals. Acknowledging it is a crucial step in emotional growth. By observing the emotion without judgment, we gain clarity. Anger doesn’t make us wrong or unkind; it’s part of the human experience. And when we fully allow ourselves to feel it, we create space to transform it into action.
Who or What is Draining Your Energy?
Living without clear boundaries can leave you feeling overwhelmed, disorganized, and constantly on edge. Establishing boundaries is crucial to your well-being.
Freedom To
I propose a transition focusing on Freedom To versus Freedom From. Freedom To allows you to reflect on who you are and what is most important to you. It moves you into the mindset of possibility.
Embrace Your Tender Heart
In a society that often equates strength with coolness and success with relentless ambition, embracing your tender heart can feel like an act of rebellion or outside the norm.
Full Permission to be Lost
It is inevitable for people going through a career-life transition to feel lost. In a culture that prefers knowing or having the “answer” or the next goal, if you find yourself “lost,” it can feel like you are in a pressure cooker to find your way fast and to do so quickly.
Forgive Yourself
Forgive yourself. Forgive yourself for past choices that did not turn out as you wished. Forgive yourself for not being kind to your heart, body, and soul. Forgive yourself for not being where you thought you would be at this time in your life. Forgive yourself for caring too much or giving too much. Forgive yourself for not being kind. Forgive yourself.
What is Your Edge of Capacity?
Boundaries are essential, especially if you want to live life on purpose. Or, put another way, if you're going to live a sane life. Almost every woman I know, including friends and clients, struggles with boundaries, which I believe is a form of internalized sexism.
Inspiration, Effort and Flow
Each season brings us a new beginning and ending—weather, food, flowers, plants, and trees. Nature reminds us that nothing stays the same, yet we can expect a beautiful rhythm in life. The sun rises, and the moon shines at night. The sun shines greater in summer, and the moon waxes and wanes. It is all ever-changing but expected.
