Grief is a Vast Territory

And its terrain is wider than most of us realize. It lives in the death of someone we loved, but also in the end of a relationship, the loss of a career, the upheaval of life transitions, the slow reckoning of aging. It can even be the heartbreak of simply being alive in a world with suffering.

Grief hurts. Across all its forms, that's the truth of it. And yet people carry it while still moving forward, not past it, but with it. Many cultures build this into how they grieve: holding one another, bearing witness, letting loss be felt fully before anything else.

Grief isn't something to get over. It's something to move through, and in moving through it, we can be changed by it. Reshaped, even. That's what it means to alchemize grief.

This offering is for those who want to explore what life can look like with their grief where meaning is found not despite the loss, but through it.

You might be asking yourself:

How do I live life with this loss?
How do I move forward?
How do I find meaning in a life that has been forever altered?

If this speaks to you, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Let’s find a way forward together.

my story

More than thirty years ago, my world split in two. My mom died suddenly from a brain aneurysm, without warning. I was twenty-four years old and utterly unprepared. For several years, grief was the air I breathed. Heavy. Constant. Mine.

And then something shifted. Not that the grief left; it never does. But I found I could carry it differently. I could hold her memory like something precious rather than something crushing. I could let grief walk beside me instead of through me.

Since then, every loss has added its own layer. And in that layering, I have found something unexpected: a deeper capacity for love, for presence, for meaning.

Grief visits every one of us. What I've come to know, in my bones, in my body, in every hard-won year, is that when we stop running from it and truly let it in, something remarkable becomes possible. We alchemize it. We turn the weight of loss into the substance of a life more fully lived.
